Of course, every corner of the most popular cities in the world is not fantastic. One of the important factors that make especially big cities popular is the richness of entertainment, culture, art, food and beverage offered to local people and visitors in certain districts. The city culture and guide magazine Time Out, which lays them on the table every year, has determined the world’s ‘coolest’ neighborhoods for 2019. Kadıköy center was on the list this year as it was last year.
The top of the list was the Arroios district of Lisbon this year. The district, which stands out with its multi-cultural structure, colorful and various entertainment and food and beverage facilities, is the most crowded and fun neighborhood of Lisbon, whose star has shined rapidly in recent years. Ranking Arroios is followed by Shimokitazawa, Tokyo’s ‘hip’ district.
The British-based magazine, which has a large number of editions in different languages around the world, has been created by combining the rankings of more than 27 thousand editors, writers, travelers and consultants who contributed to these editions. While determining the list of the most ‘cool’ districts, the criteria such as the popularity of the districts, the social and creative environments, the frequency of pleasant places and activities, the richness of food and beverage offered, and the success of making visitors feel ‘native’ were taken into consideration.
After the gradual destruction of the historical and cultural fabric in Beyoğlu in the last 15 years, the Kadıköy center and Moda environment, which has become more active, ranked 37th in the list. In the article, for Kadıköy, “Kadıköy, located on the Asian side of Istanbul, on the shore of the Marmara Sea, has increased its popularity in recent years. Hundreds of cafes, restaurants, bars, boutiques, design studios and shops are added every day. However, apart from these, the district’s own historical and cultural atmosphere is also remarkable. ”
